It was a fragrance named "Ecusson" that the French company Orlane first produced. The year was 1946 and the company founder, Jean d'Albret, was still making perfume and cologne products. But it wasn't before 1947 that the name Orlane would become a brand in its own right. After then, the name became a major force in the beauty care and cosmetics industry. The company followed up with a strong development strategy and opened up a second institute in Paris. Around 100 women came through the doors everyday, and the Orlane establishment quickly became very popular. In 1968, Orlane produced the B21 Cream. The product was accompanied by a new and eye-catching advertising slogan, saying that even if B21 Cream is the "most expensive cream in the world" (at 190 francs that time, "youth has no price").
From that time forward, the company focused its expertise on erasing the signs of visible aging from the skin. The company's research and development efforts were aimed at making products that return the skin's energy and vitality, therefore producing more efficient skin functions. Orlane has divided its products into four categories that are meant to address each cause of skin aging. The first one is the Absolute Skin Recovery Program, which aims to reverse the damage caused to skin by fatigue and daily stress. The Extreme Line-Reducing Program includes products that are aimed at stimulating the epidermis to repair itself, hence reducing the number of wrinkles and lines. The skin tends to sag and slack as it starts to age and the Orlane Firming Program is designed to help keep the skin taut and firm. Finally, the Youth Program aims to restore oxygen and energy to the skin to make it healthier, more resilient and more elastic.
